We are pleased to invite you to The Global Malayalee 2015 which will be held on the 27th, 28th and 29th of November 2015. We hope to bring together Malayalees of the world, giving them a platform to interact, share and appreciate the richness of our culture, language and traditions. During this event, we will be presenting awards to top global Malayalee achievers. A star-studded show with a gala dinner will be the highlight of this function.
All surplus proceeds from this event will be used to fund worthy educational and charitable causes, particularly for under-privileged children.
After World War II there was an influx of Malayalees into Malaya. Most had come in search of employment and were successful. Though the bond with their home state was very strong, many decided to make Malaya their second home. This gave rise to an insatiable thirst for networking and creating a mini-Kerala to preserve their rich culture and tradition, and reactivate their beautiful language. As a result, the Malayalee community got together and set up self-help and cultural organisations. This eventually led to the formation of the All Malaysia Malayali Association or AMMA in 1972.
The AMMA Foundation was established as a Company by guarantee and not having share capital in 1980. Its principal objective is to assist needy Malaysians to pursue their studies at approved institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. The Foundation is a not for profit charitable organisation with tax-exempt status that offers study loan to talented and deserving students who are financially challenged. The Foundation believes that that one of the most tangible ways to uplift the general economic status of the community would be to upgrade the educational level of our young people at universities and colleges.
